DANCE UNPLUGGED 3 IN KENYA

Time is a healer, and to achieve your dream you actually have to wake up. It’s without no doubt that practice makes perfect, Bboy harry as he is commonly known has a great passion for dance. His clearly one of the most experienced dancers in Kenya and with his wealth of talent, skill and tonnes of untold stories he bore a vision which he clearly points out was ordained from up above,

Dance unplugged is a dream that was installed in me by God nikiwa (when I was) at my place way back in 2009. It was around December getting to January and was telling my crew/Pals(Friends) that I want to start a dance showcase that will reach out to all dancers, “ Am having this dream that I want to make a reality. “ I had to meet a few people, I know got opened doors and we got PCEA LANG’ATA at our disposal- they saw the dream and tapped it. So, I talked to Dj Joelz, his brother and the crew tukaanza (we started) plans, basically the 1st Unplugged Happened in August 14th 2010 Registering over 400 youths and 25 crews.

THREE YEARS LATER (IN KENYAN DANCE TIME)

To be held on 21st April 2013, Dance Unplugged 3 promises to be one of the most anticipated and hyped event so far. Boosting of over 15 crews on their list that comprise of both fresh and veteran crews, top of the list array of artistes and a capable management we are expectant…ooh yes

DANCE IN KENYA COMES ALIVE IN DANCE UNPLUGGED 3

Bboy harry points out, “Actually I am introducing new blood to the game. Fresh talents of which I intend to keep a secret for their unveiling a week prior to the show. Crews like Jims and Dims, Ignitaz, Saintz, Godsydaz, Platinum, Titans just a few will be present.”

This list is mind blowing and we should expect an overly great, totally exciting show for a damage fee of KShs. 100/= (to die for deal) at Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) Karen, Nairobi will come alive as all roads lead to experience 4hrs of blast.

DJ JOELZ AND KELELE TAKATIFU MAKE ITTO THE DANCE UNPLUGGED 3

Dancepeeps will be live to get it socially interactive. Also to give a honorable recognition to Fanisi Agency, Bboy Harry, Npc Karen, Phatbuzz and phartzone Interactive for giving this a chance.

DANCE UNPLUGGED 3 PLATFORM

We have presented a platform for dance crews to be seen professionally by being Dance Unplugged official Dance Ambassadors, A chance to get paid for every show organized by Unplugged team, Free branding *OMG*and marketing, profiling both on Video and photography, while this remains to be the tip of the iceberg. we have before hosted renowned artists  the likes of Holydave, Eko-Dydda, Kris eeh Baba and Dj touch, Citizen Tv show Kubamba and rauka host Dj soxxy and Njugush.

I am totally humbled by the effort the Dance industry in Kenya is embracing. Working tirelessly to make a vision clear and achievable-A standing ovation is due, let’s will to support and give it a chance it might just surprise you.

Discipline is the foundation of character, the way you approach people determines how they will perceive you and thus dancers should always add a positive notch to their lifestyle. They should show respect to each other and what they do; Talking less, thinking less, perceiving less and reaching out less will make people shy.

Dancepeeps totally approves Dance Unplugged 3

RENEE OF DASHY KREW ON GRANDPA RECORDS CONTRACT

Dance is a love that develops into passion. with continued practice it evolves to talent then skill. We make movement make sense. Its an investment of time and finance which very few people seem to understand. Take for example, how in events musicians are treated and then check how crews are received.

DANCE IN KENYA

Dance in kenya has seen massive evolution and slowly we are being embraced. Everyone is suddenly interested and that's a good thing. A good thing indeed.
Following the singning of Dashy krew to Grandpa Records, I talked to Renee and this was how our short chat was

Dancepeeps EastAfrica: Hey my facebook got hacked too damn it sucks yo...I am super proud of you though how did you land the opportunity?

Renee DashyKrew Karanja: Hard work. They tried us, we gave them work. And during that time we were looking for a qualified Manager/Marketer to handle Dashy Krew. So things aligned and everything worked out. Refigah the Director manages us. God is great um telling you.
Go to YouTube and check for:

Dancepeeps EastAfrica: wow I am loving this and what does it mean to Dashy as a crew and you as an individual?

Renee DashyKrew Karanja: Dream come true for sho'!
Record labels only sign Music Artists. Being signed is an honour. Through this opportunity, made us realise more that Dashy Krew is being recognised as a brand. Now this is our chance to sell it to bigger heights.

THE AFRICAN DANCER- MUHAMMAD ISMAT

This is the story of one Mohamed from the coast region of Kenya. A dedicated young Kenyan dancer, whose love for dance is exceedingly his definition of life. When we first talked, he shocked me with his humility and getting to know him I couldn't get myself to the level of skill this kid has.

OFFICIAL NAMES: Mohamed Ismat

DATING BACK

In 2010, around the same time I was in secondary school, I met with one Deny c. reloaded swagga king (Dennis Oketch) and fell in love with what I came to later learn as great movement. I wanted to move like him, make dance out of sound. Dance to me is air, something I can’t live without.

A STORY OF GREAT DANCE INSPIRATION:DENNIS OKETCH

You can call me a Kenyan youth because I Work, school(Mass Media) and volunteer as a community health worker to ensure the community get a better health and encourage them to seek medical attention. It’s my pride and joy and for what it’s worth it helps me sleep at night knowing that I make a difference in society.

ROLE MODELS

This is dance and as you know the list of role models is inevitably long because dance is an evolution of movement and in there difference many dance styles are incomparable. Stanley Obenjo (whose picture I might not be able to produce) is my all time favorite mainly because of his story. He was part of G clef and when he moved to Nairobi and joined Sarakasi Dancers his light at the end of the tunnel grew brighter. Later he moved to Sweden to a crew called *Out of Africa*.

POSE FOR PEACE FROM A KENYAN DANCER
Mark Jordan (founder of G-Clef Dancers), Billy Sadia (Former Sarakasi Chorographer) have influenced my dance journey in a major way and will always remain humble and respectable to them.

THE BALANCE

Prior planning is of grave importance because with my type of schedule and the importance of my activities to my life I can’t afford to slack so in plain words its school in the morning hours and evenings reserved for dance. Period!
As I plan to exit this story of a young Kenyan I can’t help pray that dance through our various efforts gets the recognition it deserves. This is the story of an African Dancer.

DANCERS FOR PEACE IN KENYA

VICTOR SAYS,"YOU THERE WE NEED PEACE."

I am crazy in love with peace. I am fascinated and excited because it gives me such comfort to smile and live in harmony with nature. I despise tension in all forms and nature; I love a Kenya that is guided by the spirit of the national Anthem, maintained by the principals that underlie in our national Flag colors  Somebody so, clever ones said, “An eye for an eye will turn the whole world (in this case Kenya) blind.”

On Sunday my pastor said that we have to be peaceful and that we should, in our each different footing, learn to embrace a similar pace in execution of our National goals. Politics should never be about emotions but the ability to perform and personal characters should determine who you approve as a leader. This means that if you are elected then whoever voted for you believe you are capable to honour your commitment and the rest are not your enemy but ones you should work to impress and prove them wrong for thinking you are not/less capable.

Peace peace and unity I must mention,
choose leaders who work, build and protect,
be wise because your power is in the vote,
we hate to go back,
lets live together as Family,
We are Kenya. PEACE!!!!
~Edward otwera

EDWARD OTWERA AKA MC D. CHOREOGRAPHER LOUD WHISPERS CREW

Bboy stone is one of the most talented Bboy in Kenya and sure a likable character due to his humility. I talk to him on peace and as you should expect he had two words....

 “Peace prevails”

In his cool mystic voice I could tell he wanted this more than anything. Because what we need is to keep an enabling environment to do flash mobs, street dance, competitions/Battles.

BBOY STONE CAN HELP BUT INSIST ON PEACE

Remember KEDAKA Awards Dougie was quick to point out that,

“I am because we are. Don’t be cruel towards your neighbour because of the
different opinion to me. We got a life after 4th March 2013. We are a family”

Be sure he was on point and always rocking to look brilliant as he is...*I am not lying check below*

DOUGIE KNOWS PEACE WILL ALWAYS MAKE KENYANS SMILE

Talking to Mohamed ismat of Gcleff Dancers made me realize we are all Kenyans and we face the same challenges because when I asked him what he wanted most to come out this election he brightly said,

“Free and Fair elections, amani, amani na tuchangue viongozi wenye maono”

translated to mean that we need peace and leaders with a clear vision.

MUHAMMAD OF GCLEFF WITH BEST FRIEND KASSIM

It’s in this light and a lot of consideration that a close friend of mine came to mind, Victor a great n fierce Krumper says,

VICTOR DURING A SHOWCASE AT BREAKSESSION

"for God is SHEER BEAUTY, all generous in LOVE LOYAL always and EVER"

WE STAND IN PEACE AND FOR PEACE. WE ARE KENYAN DANCERS

We represent #dance254,our passion in giving and our love for family keeps us together.
